How to take Payments from Clients as a Professional Tarot Reader!

There was a great question from The Gretch Witch on our Tarot Guild Facebook group... I decided to create this informational blog post from my response/comment...

Her original post question: "Hey Readers, energy workers, psychics and mediums ✨️🔮🥳 How do you accept payment? Do you work online?" ...You can see her original post and comment on it yourself at:

Great Question The Gretch Witch ...Thanks for that! ...Back in the day, I used PayPal a lot. In recent years, I have used Stripe and Square, if I was sending folks to my Page - www.tarotbiz.com/dax on the Tarot Guild website for payment. (Members receive their own custom payment page.)

In person, I used to use a "credit card slider", through PayPal, and then switched to Square. But these days, you don't even need a card slider. You can open, say, your Square App, and tap the customer's card to the top of your phone to take a payment!

If they have something like Apple Pay, you can just put your phones near each other! ...Ah, technology!

Square is my favorite processor, although Stripe is good too. With Square, you get a business checking account and a Debit Card! And you can have your business name on it and even a signature! It looks very professional. (See image on the banner above)...

In areas that have it, like for U.S.-based clients, I have simply taken payments through (Facebook) Messenger. It's quick and convenient, and most importantly, NO Fees!

I have also used Apps such as Venmo, Zelle, and Ca$h App. People like convenience -- in today's high-tech era, it's important to have a variety of payment options and let clients decide how they will send you funds.

It's also important to check "the fine print"... What are their processing fees? Other fees and charges? You may decide based on those what payment options to use and what ones not to use...

Many Professional Readers use appointment calendars, like Calendly and TidyCal. Depending on the app, they usually have a few payment processors they work with, typically PayPal and Stripe.

Calendar app appointment setting is terrific, and works well for many Readers. I personally don't use them for a couple of reasons...

One is that I like to be able to give my clients a choice of payment options, and often steer them towards just using Messenger, if they are U.S.-based, and avoid processing fees.

In addition, for payments through my Page, I prefer to use Square, and many calendar apps don't allow you to use that processor. So I just have Square payment buttons on my Page.

Lastly, I just like to schedule sessions directly; it's more personal. Plus, my schedule changes a lot, so I can't "block out" the same times and days every week for the calendar app...
